From 6th to 7th of May 2024, DaiSyBio hosted a fruitful workshop in Freising! The REPO4EU project is funded by the European Commission with about 25 Mio € under the Horizon Europe framework and is running from 2022-2029. The aim is to develop a platform for mechanism-based drug repurposing which means to offer treatment options not based on the symptoms of a disease but according to the molecular mechanism that causes the disease. It is a cutting-edge topic in medical research and therefore the European Commission made a priority of it.
The workshop was an excellent occasion to refine the concept of the REPO4EU platform, face emerging challenges in computational and discuss the different drug repurposing use cases. Project participants from Germany, Spain, Austria and France came to TUM. Prof. Markus List and team is leading the task of the ‘generation of an integrated multi-scale knowledge platform for mechanistic targeting of diesease endotypes’. University of Hamburg, University of Vienna and the Spanish company Stalicla specialised in precision medicine for brain disorders are contributing actively to reach this goal in 2027.
It was a pleasure to have you - see you soon at RExPO24!
