The TUM Chair of Plant Breeding and the GPZ (German Society for Plant Breeding) are organizing a Spring School on „Selection and Breeding” with Bruce Walsh from the University of Arizona and Gustavo de los Campos from Michigan State University from March 31 to April 9, 2025 for researchers in the field of quantitative genetics, breeding and biostatistics from academia and industry. This short course will cover both the basics of quantitative genetics and selection theory, as well as modern marker- and mixed-model-based extensions, the role of functional genomics data, and additional methods for using high-dimensional data when making selection decisions. The course will consist of lectures, R labs, and discussions, with a focus on both applied problems and real data sets. Registration will open in January.
