MetaGEAR Web Platform
We are excited to announce the release of MetaGEAR (MetaGenomic Exploration And Research), a new web platform that facilitates the exploration of microbial gene functions in gastrointestinal diseases, specifically inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colorectal cancer (CRC). By integrating extensive metagenomic data from over 9,000 human samples across diverse cohorts, MetaGEAR streamlines the identification and analysis of microbial gene targets.
The platform provides an intuitive and user-friendly interface supporting both sequence-based searches (nucleotide or amino acid sequences) and domain-based searches using functional annotations from Pfam. Users benefit from interactive visualizations, such as pie charts, volcano plots, and Sankey diagrams, which offer rapid insights into gene abundance, taxonomy, and disease-specific associations.
MetaGEAR significantly accelerates the investigation of microbial contributions to gastrointestinal health and disease, enabling researchers to explore potential therapeutic targets and biomarkers more efficiently. The platform is freely accessible and designed to support collaborative research initiatives across microbiome studies.
