This brings together scientists from a wide range of research areas including for example cancer research, plant sciences, biophysics and drug discovery. The common denominator in the research of all the 21 research groups is that proteins execute and control most aspects of how biological systems function. Hence, there is a common need for high-throughput quantitative and qualitative protein analysis.
The granted funds enable the Chair of Proteomics and Bioanalytics to acquire three further state-of-the-art mass spectrometers and additional bioinformatics capabilities. Together with the existing infrastructure, the TUM now operates one of Europe’s largest proteomics technology platforms which will further foster interdisciplinary research in the greater Munich area.
